Dynamic New Tab: A Chrome Extension for Changing New Tab Backgrounds
Dynamic New Tab is a free Chrome extension developed by Nathan Gillis. It falls under the category of Browsers and is specifically categorized as an Add-ons & Tools subcategory. This extension allows users to have a changing background on their new tab page.
With Dynamic New Tab, users can choose between using a local directory or the image hosting service Imgur for their new tab background. To enable the use of a local directory, users simply need to check the "Allow access to file URLs" option in the Extension Settings. In case of no internet connection, the background defaults to a pug lenny image.
The extension offers several customization options for users. They can set the background URL or directory, adjust the background sizing and position, enable or disable background changing, and set the background change time. Additionally, users can remove the search bar and logo from their new tab page.
Versionof Dynamic New Tab introduced the ability to switch to the next background by clicking the extension's icon. Versionadded an option for a download link for the background, which is displayed in the bottom left corner. Furthermore, the extension supports incognito mode, but any settings or backgrounds set in incognito mode will not be remembered.
